  • Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Japan Visits YAMAGATA Corporation

On April 25, 2025, YAMAGATA Corporation was honored to welcome His Excellency Mr. Antoine Evrard, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Japan.

During the visit, Ambassador Evrard and his delegation were received by YAMAGATA Corporation’s President and CEO, Ryuji Yamagata, along with Directors Keisuke Saito and Kohei Yamagata. The meeting included an overview of YAMAGATA Corporation, a review of the history and future outlook of YAMAGATA Europe (the YAMAGATA Group’s European hub), and a fruitful exchange of ideas aimed at fostering further development.

YAMAGATA Europe: Over 100 Years of History Powering Diverse Content Solutions in Europe

The roots of YAMAGATA Corporation trace back to the Yamagata Printing Works, founded in Yokohama in 1906. From our earliest days, we have focused on non-Japanese printing, making support for international communication a core part of our company’s DNA. This spirit has expanded along with globalization, first into Asia and then to Europe, leading to the establishment of YAMAGATA Europe.

YAMAGATA Europe was founded in Belgium in 1998 as Ycomm EUROPE NV to serve as our business hub in the European market. The company was later renamed as part of a group-wide brand unification, and in 2008, an office was opened in Bratislava, Slovakia. Today, our team of approximately 50 content specialists provides a diverse range of solutions to help clients organize complex information and communicate it effectively to their target audiences.

Our scope of work is extensive, covering high-quality technical writing (for instruction manuals and service manuals), specialized multilingual translation and localization services, engaging content creation support, legacy data conversion, clear technical illustrations and video production, and even print management and consulting. We provide one-stop support for our clients' global information strategies, working every day to embody our mission: "We make everybody understand your message."

Toward a Future of Growth and a Long-standing Friendship with Belgium

Ambassador Evrard expressed his gratitude for YAMAGATA Corporation's long-standing investment and economic contributions in Belgium.

The hour-long meeting featured highly constructive and positive discussions about the YAMAGATA Group's global business development, with a particular focus on YAMAGATA Europe's activities and future growth strategies. The conversation also explored opportunities for strengthening collaboration between Belgian and Japanese companies. The meeting proceeded in a friendly atmosphere, which included sharing anecdotes such as Director Kohei Yamagata's experience completing a two-year internship at YAMAGATA Europe after studying in the United Kingdom.

We are committed to focusing on the further development of our European operations, centered on YAMAGATA Europe, and we hope to continue contributing to the deepening of friendly relations and economic exchange between Japan and Belgium.

Underpinned by our unwavering philosophy of "contributing to external communication," cultivated for over a century, the YAMAGATA Group will continue to powerfully support the communication strategies of our global clients with innovative, high-quality solutions.
